Plan Session Devotion: Lord, Help Me Pour Your Love
Each Friday I invite you to pray a personal prayer of devotion and surrender in all the ways. Will you pray? Will you speak this prayer to your Father? I pray as you do, He joins His heart to yours.
Lord, You give to me what I need and save me from what I don’t, and I forget to thank You. You pour out blessings in ways that get my attention and I remember to thank you, but forget why You give. You give so I can also. Your love I take for granted. I walk in my own little world keeping it all for myself, and I forget You love so I can also.
Your love truly overwhelms me. The closer I get to You, the more I know Your love. The more I know Your love, the more I realize it was not meant to be kept all to myself. The closer I get to Your heart the more I hear it beating — every beat resounding for the lost, the oppressed, the broken, the hungry, and the captive.
Then You draw me to lean in closer to hear, and I pretend I don’t hear. I’m afraid—not of Your love. I’m afraid of the pain of Your love for the world so much in need of You. I’m afraid of a call I’m unwilling to answer. I know the closer to Your heart I get, the more I realize it is me you are calling to the lost, the oppressed, the broken, the hungry, and the captive.
Help me not be afraid of Your call. Help me not hoard Your love. You died for me. Surely, I could live for You. Help me to, in Jesus sweet and powerful Name.
