Pace Session Devotion: Embrace Your Season

by | Nov 9, 2015 | DEVOTIONS

Some of the best advice I ever read for living, besides Bible truth of course, I found in the book called Your Life in Rhythm: Less Stress, More Peace, Less Frustration, More Fulfillment, Less Discouragement, More Hope by Bruce Miller. In this book I found the words that released me from the exhausting expectation of having to achieve a perfect ten at all times in all things. It’s where I gained the wisdom to embrace the season I am, gleaning all I can from every part of it, because I know there will never be another one like it.

Too often, when we are trying to make it all happen—building our homes, businesses, ministries, and lives—we are in such haste and hustle that we miss the chances, the unique opportunities that are right now and will never be again.

When we are consumed with getting it all done, racing to our self-imposed finish lines, we may suffocate under the pressure and miss the joy and strength that could be ours if we just slowed down. We can be the leaders of our lists and schedules, and give ourselves permission to really notice and truly savor the blessing of this time of our life.

Savor the smell of a baby’s breath, linger over coffee and conversation with a sister-friend or even that young woman who needs you right now, and celebrate those seemingly small, yet truly significant victories.

Embrace your season, friend, it is unlike any other. God has some things in it for you that you will need in your new season. And that new one—it will surely come in its right time.

GOING DEEPER: Ecclesiastes 3:1, Ephesians 5:15-17, Psalm 1:3.
