Pace Session Devotion: Measure of Success

by | Nov 13, 2015 | DEVOTIONS

This prayer, friend, I invite you to offer to your God with open-handed surrender.

Lord, I’m weighed heavy with guilt about all the things. I’m carrying all of those undone and incomplete things I thought would make the way for success. But it’s not You, is it, that’s pressing me with guilt? It can’t be. You measure success much differently than I do and than the world does. I’ve taken my eyes off You. I’ve put my eyes on all “they” are doing and I’ve made their doings my goal, and I can’t measure up.

I know it’s not right, but it’s so easy to fall into the trap. Rescue me Lord. Lift me up from this place. Help me walk steady with You. Help me keep my eyes on You and the dream You have for me, because when I aspire to reach someone else’s dream, I cease to live my own. Don’t let me miss what You have for me to learn, to give, to see, to do in my season.

Free me from every sort entanglement that hinders my walk forward, and keeps me from living fully in the purpose You have given me. It’s never Your dream for me to aspire to someone else’s. You give each daughter their own. Help me see that. Help me measure success the way You do—obedience to You.
