Presence Session Devotion: God is There Still
I find myself reaching out to God more and more often in the most random of places. Even still, every time I reach up, He reaches down. What I’m learning—what I know—is that everywhere I am, God is.
And what I’m searching and seeking and running hard after now is to be able to hear His voice even in the chaos. I don’t want to only share a moment with my God in the solace of my bathroom or my vehicle. I want to be close enough to Him throughout my day to hear His whisper over the roar around me.
I want to experience the very same presence of God, with the very same God, in the very same way Adam and Eve did in the Garden before the fall. They knew their Creator was near before He uttered a word. Was it a stirring of the leaves? Was it His scent on the air? Whatever it was, I want that same sacred sense.
I need God palpable in every crack of my day, to keep my days from falling apart. And because He sent His son, I can trust that even though I’m as fallen and wretched and sin-stained as the first two people in the Garden were—I’m not alone. He’s as available to you and I, as He ever was to them and He’s ready and willing to revive our hearts and fill our mundanely sacred lives.
When the still is hard to find, we can trust He is there even still. Willing, able and ready to meet His daughters just as they are, right where they are. That’s His promise.“We are the sanctuary of the living God, as God said: I will dwell among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they will be My people.”
