Presence Session Devotion: God’s Already Provided

Lying in bed with my four-year old girl recently, I was reading through our Presence Study. When I came to Exodus 29:46 and read these words, “And they will know that I am Yahweh their God…” she stopped me and said, “What does that word mean, Mommy? It sounds like ‘Your Way’”. 
 

 
That word means Jehovah, the existing One—the One true God. And in a very real sense it is referring to the One who is your way, my way, our way. 
 
Isn’t it just like God to use a child to shoot a dagger right to the heart of the matter? He’s done it over and over in my life with these little arrows He’s put in my quiver. He did it over 2000 years ago in a manger in Bethlehem, giving His child to the world as the only way back to Him.
 
From the beginning, when all hell broke lose in the Garden, He’s been preparing our way back to Him. Every step we took away from Him, He provided a step back to Him.
 
God has always and will always prepare the way for His people to be in His presence. 
 
He gave the Israelites a pillar of fire and clouds to both protect and provide. He gave them instructions to build a tabernacle to dwell with Him. And then He did what only He could do, providing us the impossibly perfect sacrifice only an impossibly perfect God could, to make a relationship and home with Him possible.
 
And perhaps the most beautiful part of all is that we don’t have to wait until we get to Heaven to live with Him, because He chose us here and now, to dwell with us right where we are, just as we are. In Him, we are made perfect and maybe that’s the biggest Christmas miracle of all.
