Presence Session Devotion: Together Lord

by | Jan 1, 2016 | DEVOTIONS

I am not sure what feelings the New Year brings for you, but it always brings mixed emotions for me—celebration mingled with regrets. I came and keep on coming to God with all the feelings and honest prayers. I invite you to also.

Lord, there are so many thoughts and feelings that come rushing with the New Year rolling in. I know I’ve come a long way, but all I see is how far I have to go. Help me see how far I’ve come. Help me see how far You’ve brought me.

What I see now with my eyes pales in comparison to the dream in my heart, and I am carrying the weight of it. It’s a weight of disappointment and of failure, that somehow and in someway I have failed You.

I wonder, maybe I could’ve and should’ve done more. Maybe I could have worked harder to keep those promises I made to You, and to them. Maybe I should have planned more or played more or held on more or let go more. Maybe less of this and more of that. Maybe, the problem with all those maybe’s are—they make me look back.

But I hear You say, “Forget what is behind, and look ahead.” You say, “Come follow, and keep your eyes on Me.” You say, “I make all things new. I am the One who called you. I am faithful, and I will do it.” You say, “Trust and do not fear. I will never give up on you. Don’t ever give up on yourself.” You say, “Daughter, the pressure is off. I’ll send the rain. I’ll be the wind in your sails. Let’s do this together.”

I say, yes, let’s do this year together, Lord.
