THE RESTING PLACE

by: Michele-Lyn Ault

“A biblically authentic and balanced life will include time to be still, to remember, to mediate, to delight in who God is and what He has made. But a large obstacle stands in our way. There is no glory in rest.” — R. A. Swenson

If the enemy cannot stop us, he tries to make us less effective. He is hard at work trying to keep us busy, tired, and preoccupied with lesser things, and for the wrong reasons. Why? So we don’t have the energy or time to attune our hearts to God’s, or quiet for our souls to hear the voice of the Spirit — the Voice that will lead us to do the most important things.

Lord, if we have made an idol of being busy and productive, or at least trying looking like we are to others, show us. Help us let go, and rest in Your acceptance of us. Though the world is shouting, vying for all of our attention, help us hear and follow Your voice. And may we seek You as our resting place.

“He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” Ps 91:1
