BEGIN AGAIN

by: Michele-Lyn Ault

“Standing in an imperfect place is just the perfect place to begin, and everyday offers the hope of Day 1. His mercies are new every morning and this is a gift.” {Ann Voskamp}

The word practice can conjure up all kinds of feelings, from drudgery and dread to excitement and joy. But one amazing, beautiful thing about the word practice is that it means we can always, and are expected to keep trying. It’s a safe place to fall and fail and get back up and begin again.

Imagine yourself as a child again, your one-year-old-self taking your first wobbly steps. Now imagine if you gave up learning to walk after the first, or thirty-first fall.

All of life is practice, and we need to see it that way. Each morning is a new opportunity to begin. Though we fail, God’s love never does.

“The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; His mercies begin afresh each morning.” {Lamentations 3:22-23}
