GRACE TO BE

by: Michele-Lyn Ault

“Your lingering disbelief that anything important hangs on your life is only evidence of the long assault on your heart by the one who knows who you could be and fears you.” Stasi Eldredge

One thing the enemy of our souls uses is comparison to others, which is often rooted in shame, to keep us paralyzed.

Shame whispers, “Do more. Work harder. So, you’ll be better than her.”

Shame will make you feel defective and inadequate until you become ingrained with a deep sense of disgrace. Shame keeps you from resting in the belief that God finds you beautiful, has deemed you worthy and in Him you are enough. It is why Jesus despised it.

God is changing you. Instead of making you into someone else, He is making you more you — how He created you. We don’t have to try to be like anyone else. The more of His we become, the more of our true selves we become.
