Pace Session Devotion: God is the Way-Maker

by | Nov 21, 2015 | DEVOTIONS

Now is always a good time to offer honest prayers to your God. Will you make this your prayer?

Lord, I know You ask me to wait for You so I can learn patience. But until I learn it, I grow impatient. When I do, you know how I like to take matters into my own hands and do Your job for You? I make a mess of things. I see the mess and try to fix the mess, and make a mess out of the mess. I need help with my mess.

It would not be so bad if I learned my lesson the first time or the first ten times. I’m sorry. Sometimes, You take much longer than I hoped You would. Sometimes in the waiting I think You are waiting on me, so I do something like Abraham and Sarah did when they made Ishmael. Ishmael wasn’t the son you promised to them. They were getting older and grew impatient in the waiting, but You blessed them anyway. You are so good.

You keep Your promises and Your promises are greater than the messes we humans make. I try and make a way and so much is lost. You make a way and I am found. Your way is perfect. You make a way where I see no way. Help me trust You are the Way-Maker.

You are the God who makes a way through the sea and a path through the mighty rushing waters. You are the One who asks me not to keep looking back and dwell on the mistakes of my past. Why? Because You are about to do a new thing, and it’s about to spring forth. “Watch”, You say, “I will even put a road in that wilderness you face, and rivers will flow in your desert.” I trust You are the Way-Maker, in Jesus sweet name.
