INTERRUPTED

by: Ashlie Oestreich

She gives a resounding “Yes!” to the call of God. And yet, just as her feet lift to take the very first step, the wind begins to swirl, she sees movement from the corner of her eye as a friend waves her down, she hears the insistent cry of her child, receives a message of a family in need, the phone dings with an email of an opportunity.

She shakes her head. “But, God, I thought you said it’s time to run?”

He takes her hand, smiles, and replies, “My daughter, do you not see? I am in the wind, the cry of the child, the mundane, the quick, the slow, the interruption, the staying and the going. Take My hand, trust My voice, and you will not miss a thing. I am in the beginning, I see the end, and I am in every part of the journey. My grace is to be found in ALL things, not just some. ”

Lord, help us to trust You to direct our every step. Even when it is inconvenient, and even when it does not make sense. May we remain firm in our “Yes” to You. Amen.
