MADE NEW

Surrendering to the process…

There’s a part inside each of us that wishes surrender looked something like a home makeover from HGTV, right? Seriously, wouldn’t that be amazing? We could just hand over the keys to our lives to God, take off on mental vacation to a pretty place where we don’t have to think about things like dirt, clutter, hard decisions, and clean-up – then come back to answers, organization, peace, and beauty?

Though He could certainly do that, God cares too much about teaching us, shaping our souls, and placing us in a harvest field. Like any good Father, He knows that growth includes hard lessons of trust and waiting that will prepare us for the hard days; the sunny days; the windy, rainy, stormy days. He knows that our lives aren’t just about “us”, but a field of souls He has purposefully placed each of us in. So, He brings us — again and again — to that place of surrender. It usually involves getting messy, maybe a little afraid, and sometimes being enclosed in a dark place with little vision before we ever see any signs of growth or fruit.

But wait, precious one who is in the throws of the hard, painful, messy surrender — do not lose hope! The harvest is coming. You will break out of that small place to find yourself basking in His glorious light and find that you indeed are not alone. He was tending to you all along, and the fruitful harvest will not only bless you — but feed many.

“Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit.” – John 12:24

“I would have lost heart, unless I had believed
That I would see the goodness of the Lord
In the land of the living.” -Psalm 27:13
